Very open about prices, with one man and a van starting at £144 for 4 hours on weekdays and £168 at weekends. Full prices include a charge of £1.20 per mile from pick up point to delivery point plus congestion charge. Monday to Thursday moves come with a 5% discount.

Costs are clear, and of good value. Removals start at £39 per hour (plus VAT) for two men with a mid-sized van. The packing service starts at £29 per hour (plus VAT), and storage costs from £9.90 per week (plus VAT). One of London’s oldest removal firms, Bishop’s Move has been around since 1854 – though rest assured its fleet of vehicles has moved on from the horse-drawn carts they started with. They do charge extra for insurance cover, so be sure to check whether or not you really need it.

Standard removals start at £69, and include van, removal men and loading and unloading. Can also move customers out of London to Cambridgeshire, the south coast, and various towns and cities around the M5 corridor.

They don’t charge extra for furniture assembly or packing, but they do charge by the hour – so be sure to get an estimate of how long the move will take. Prices start at £35 per hour for a Transit van and one man, or £40 for a large Luton van plus one man.

Aussie Group –

The company promises no hidden fees: “What you are quoted is the amount you’ll pay.” Very transparent about prices. Storage starts at £9.95 per week, while they’ll move you to anywhere in mainland Europe from £349 plus VAT (that’s a minimum total cost of £418.80, for those who like to keep score). Also promise the “Aussie ethos” of their can-do attitude, if that’s what you’re looking for.
